The network has given me a social life and an independence I have never had before.
I have been a member of the network for about 1.5 years. In that time I have become good friends with other network members and enjoy getting out without my parents. The network has given me a social life and an independence I have never had before.
I am unable to verbally communicate due to dyspraxia and I am currently working with my community living support worker to teach her how to understand British Sign Language (BSL). It is our intention to start to teach the rest of the network members how to understand BSL so that I can communicate with them easier. It is my hope to start going out with my friends independent of the network.
I also rode in this years Hunter and Lass. I have a horse however have never been confident enough to participate in the ride out. This year I went for it and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I got to meet a lot of new people and was very proud of myself for doing this. I did this on my own without my mum and enjoyed the sense of independence this gave me.
