Health and Wellbeing in North Ayrshire
North Ayrshire
Over the summer months the North Ayrshire Networks have been attending Health and Wellbeing workshops set up by staff, with visiting organisations. On our first workshop we looked at an overview of health and wellbeing topics and members shared some of their own experiences both positive and negative. Members decided which topics they would like to know more about, and which organisations they would be interested in hearing from.
Staff then reached out to organisations and planned and facilitated workshops on topics members wanted to know more on. These included anxiety, fitness, screening services, local support services/mapping, digital health and mental health. The sessions have been well attended, with some being more popular than others. Members were given information and leaflets home with them on the topics. At the end of each workshop, we also had 30min to an hour where members could spend time with others over a cuppa, playing a game or doing some arts and crafts. This provided an opportunity for members to process the information, ask questions in a more relaxed environment, or privately. Members also used this time to support one another and share experiences.
Members have said they feel they can now make more informed choices in the future when it comes to health and wellbeing.
